What can I do using groups?

In the online academy, you can utilize groups to categorize users into, for example, temporary training groups.

What are groups?

Within the online academy, you can organise your organisation according to its organisational structure. This ensures that employees are assigned to the correct company and department. You can also group all managers from the same department into a team. However, there may be additional needs to categorize employees, separate from the fixed organisational structure, into (temporary) groups. This could include a trainee group, an onboarding program for a group of new employees, or a management development program. Groups can be used for these purposes.

These are the most important features of groups:

  • Create groups & add users
    It's possible to create groups in the organisation structure. You can add users per group. This way you can identify all hired employees or all participants of a summer course.

  • Add supervisors to a group
    You can add supervisors per group. This can be administrators and managers. The supervisors have, from that moment on, access to the learning analytics of the users in the group.

    • Group supervisors

      Through the Supervisors tab, you can add a supervisor for the entire group. This can be either a manager or an administrator.

    • Supervisor for an individual user

      Using the Users tab, you can assign a supervisor to an individual user. Click on the pencil icon in the user's row to do this. An individual user must always be a manager.

  • Automatically sign up users for an activity
    You can also link activities or a learning playlist to a group. This way you can ensure that all users from a group will automatically be signed up for specific activities.

An example situation for groups

You can for example create an 'onboarding'-group, for new employees within your company. Link a playlist with the activities they need to do in their first weeks to this group. Every time there are new employees, you add them to the group and they will automatically be added to the playlist. The users in the group are easily tracked in the analytics.
