Texts in e-learning or microlearning are almost indispensable. Below, we will explain to you step by step how to add a text component. We wrote a blog with tips on how to make your text easy to read when writing for e-learning purposes.

How do I add text?

  • Choose the learning format 'Text'.

  • Add a title and optionally a description. Based on the title, the text will be saved in the Warehouse. You can hide the title from users by clicking on the eye icon next to the title.

  • Add the text. Type or paste a piece of text to teach your users something new or explain something.

  • Add variations if desired. Besides text, you can also add images, tables, and different text boxes to your text. To do this, click on the '+' icon to the left of the text block.

What else can I add to my text?

Text boxes

There are four different text boxes that you can add to your text. These text boxes allow you to highlight information, such as an example or a quote, within your text. The text boxes you can add are 'Caution', 'Tip', 'Quote', and 'Example'. You can add these boxes by clicking on the '+' icon to the left of the text block.

The default text displayed in the block is shown in the language that the user's or administrator's profile is set to.

Images

By clicking on the '+' sign to the left of the text block, you can also add images to your text. This allows you to visually support your text.

Tables

Using the '+' sign to the left of the text block, you can also add a table. By default, a table of three by three is added. With the table toolbar, you can change the size of the table and optionally give the cells a color.

💡Tip: Learning objectives and tags

You can add learning objectives and tags to learning formats. Learning objectives are useful, for example, when creating exams based on specific learning objectives. By using tags, you can easily find content in the Warehouse. As you start typing, suggestions of learning objectives and tags that you have previously used will appear instantly.
